The design of the NewERA incubator facility envisions the creation and establishment of an innovative, technically-sophisticated, multi-functional, and rapidly-flexible architectural icon for the community of New Waterford. The proposed, modern design of coloured, metal skin panels; space-frame trussed canopies; unique fenestration patterns; etc.; seeks to create a positive image of the opportunities and benefits inherent in the new technology sectors. By creating a spirited, high-tech appearance, it is hoped that outside corporate enterprises would launch new businesses in New Waterford. Furthermore, it is hoped that a unique architectural design would enhance the status and expertise of New Waterfords participation in Cape Bretons IT culture, by creating a high-profile, community icon of the new, global economy.
The design concept seeks to address and reflect current planning criteria for large, corporate, customer-care centres. Single-storey, flexible, open-landscape environments, with on-grade access for staff, outdoor decks, emergency generators, etc., are preferred design elements for call centres. Security, independence, and limited interaction with other tenancies is preferred for call-centre design layouts. The proposed design also presents a unique visual identity for the call-centre block, by utilizing coloured, metal panels; unique window patterns; and banner/flag masts.
