rifos Design Consultants was commissioned to design a new, retail, liquor store outlet for North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Our initial design task was to take a standard “cookie cutter” layout, and enliven the space with a dramatic, colourful, and bold ceiling concept. Typically, the retail spaces for small, community liquor outlets are quite mundane and staid. Our concept proposal intrigued the Client; however, it was eventually rejected on the grounds that it appeared to be too conspicuous. A more subdued ceiling scheme was eventually introduced.
