he Northside Millennium Sportsplex Facility proposes to link an existing pool facility to a new sports complex housing an Olympic sized ice surface with 717 fixed seats: a NHL regulation sized ice surface with 250 bench seats; a raised walking track, ten large team dressing rooms; an air-conditioned, 2,000 sq.ft. Fitness Centre; and a 3,200 sq.ft., air-conditioned, multi-purpose room capable of being subdivided into three separate areas.

The multi-purpose rooms will have unobstructed views to the main event surface. A centrally located canteen/food-service facility can provide food and beverages during hockey games and other events. A centrally located reception desk/box office will control all access to the facility including the new curved link to the existing pool facility.

In order to optimize construction costs, as well as reduce construction time, the main body of the facility will be constructed using a pre-engineered structure and envelope. The “front-of-house” areas will be constructed using conventional steel-framing systems. The entire facility will be clad in decorative, exterior-insulation and finish system, in order to achieve a colourful and dynamic appearance.
