he expressive design of this facility-maintenance building was intended to camouflage the rear service facade of an arena, as well as present a clear, symbolic, architectural presence to a major public highway fronting the building. In the tradition of the existing campus architecture, the facade clearly defines a base, middle, and top. In what is typically, a monolithic, utilitarian facility, the language of this building was elevated to impart scale and character. The use of hipped roofs, entablatures, molded detailing, and classical columns and trims serve to impart a symbolic presence for this building. Unfortunately, the site was deemed to be economically unfeasible, and an alternative site and building design were pursued.
