his architecturally-expressive, conceptual, vision rendering was prepared by Trifos Design Consultants for the purpose of establishing an appropriate image for the Conference Centre.
The existing Campus is personified by New England Gerogian-style architectural influences. The design study explored issues of campus planning as it relates to Thomas Jeffersons academic village. The design explored issues relative to village-like scale, through the use of red brick walls; white, painted wood; columned porticos; and domed cupolas. massing concepts attempted to create separate, yet interlocked, building components, intended to promote way finding con-venience; informal efficiency; and fostering of academic/community-building.
This proposal strives to build on the strength of existing campus architecture. The original campus architecture, with its traditional references of lawns, courtyards, and covered walkways, succeeded in creating a unique sense of place; whereas, recent additions have been haphazard and incoherent.
Ultimately, the aim of the concept was to propose a restored sense of architectural unity with the past, by sensitively echoing the vocabulary and spirit of the original campus buildings.
