his concept study was prepared for the University College of Cape Breton's proposed Technology/Enterprise Centre.
The architectural design proposed a multifaceted, multi-coloured, metal-skinned volume, symbolically suggesting high technology, without requiring costly budget expenditures.
The proposed building fronts a major highway system, and is linked to one of the existing campus buildings.
The multi-coloured, metal-skin cladding was rejected by the Client. The bold use of supergraphic colour applications was deemed inappropriate, and too radical for the existing Campus architecture. A contextually-revised scheme was subsequently submitted and approved by the Client. The revised scheme was designed to subtly blend and harmonize with the existing Campus architecture of masonry and concrete-veneer buildings. |
